A brand new map!
There are three good reasons to come to this meet:
1) A brand new map! How often do you get to orienteer on a new map?
2) Last chance to orienteer in 2018.
3) Last chance to orienteer before the A meet - and the terrain is very similar, since the A meet maps are just a
short distance away.
The address of the park is 615 Black Dirt Rd, Whitesburg, GA. This is a Carroll County Park like McIntosh Reserve, and it is not very well known, so your GPS may not know about this park or address. But the first challenge when going orienteering is finding the event site, right?
Basically, from the traffic circle in Whitesburg (the intersection of GA5 and GA16), go north on GA 5 (the opposite direction from McIntosh Reserve) for about a mile and turn right on Black Dirt Road. The park will be down about a mile on the right. There is a sign at the entrance.
The only facilities in this park are a restroom (with flush toilets!) and a boat ramp. We will start and finish at the restroom parking lot.
Online registration is open so please take advantage.
