Take Mom orienteering this Mother's Day! Join us at Red Top Mountain for white, yellow and Extreme-O courses. The Extreme-O features a short and long option on a variety of map scales and types. The courses are designed for intermediate to advanced level orienteers (Orange-Red) and focuses on different types of navigational, mental and physical challenges including aerial photo maps, trail maps, contour only maps, memory legs, and a few surprises.
The average orienteer should expect to take 2-3 hours on the course. Green and Red course orienteers are the best fit for the Long course. Orange, Silver and Brown orienteers should consider the Short course.
It is highly encouraged that runners go out in teams of 2-3 because it's a lot of fun to work as a team. Orange level orienteers should definitely go out with a partner. Individuals and teams are encouraged to bring a mobile phone in case of emergency.
We'll be meeting at Shelter #2, the first right after crossing the bridge over Lake Allatoona from I-75. Red Top Mountain requires a State Park Pass, which is $5 per vehicle or $50 for an annual pass. Annual passes can be purchased at the Visitor Center.

From Atlanta, go north on I-75 and take exit 285. Turn right onto Red Top Mountain Road and follow it to Lake Allatoona. Take the first right after crossing the bridge over Lake Allatoona to Shelter #2. The park address is 50 Lodge Road SE, Acworth, GA 30102.
Typical fees are shown below. Participants may go out on the course as individuals or with a group. E-chip rental is required if you do not have your own stick.
