Meet Director's Comments:

Well, another Score Orienteering weekend at Bert Adams Scout Reservation is
behind us.  We had about 100 Scout participants on Saturday.  On Sunday we
had 67 registrations for the GAOC event, but 32 of those were ROTC teams
with 2-5 registrants.  There also were other multiple registrations.  All
told, by my count there were 159 participants on Sunday.

There are almost too many people to thank for all the help.  I want to thank
Robin, Bob Domine, Steve, Kevin and Felicia, Bill Farrell and Martha Carr
and Gregg Dunlap for all their help on the day of the GAOC meet on Sunday
with Registration, Instruction, Bag pick-up and all the other stuff that has
to be done to make a meet run.

I spent much of September finding out what areas needed to be re-mapped and
setting the course.  Fortunately, I had help from Acworth Troop 89 adults
and scouts in setting the course.  I hope we didn't get anyone too lost.
They actually did a good job.

Kevin Haywood gave me a lot of help over the telephone and internet in map
changes.  He was amazing at interpreting my amateur notes and scribbling by
FAX and otherwise.  More importantly, he came out the last Saturday before
the meet and made some much needed changes in some areas that have been
confusing all along.  I spend several weekends trying to figure out what
needs to be done to improve the map.  In a few short hours, he was able to
vastly improve certain areas of the map.

And that stands to get even better.  I have some Scout leaders nearby who
are looking at adopting a running revision and improvement of the BA map as
a permanent project.  The GREAT NEWS is that there are REAL possibilities of
adding the south side of the lake to our map.  Of course that is a whole lot
of more work to do.

Maybe most of all, I would like to thank Ranger David Barron of Bert Adams
Scout Reservation, Atlanta Area Council, BSA.  No one could be more
supportive.  Without his cooperation and help, we could not have the meet at
Bert Adams.
