If you didn't get to compete at last years US Champs because you were busy volunteering, then there is good news! We will be returning to Chattahoochee Bend State Park for the first time since the US Champs in April 2012. We'll be out at the boat ramp in picnic shelter #1 (Just get on the park road and go until it dead-ends at the river). There is almost no climb in this area of the park, so easy running, right?
Every course will either cross or run along the big powerline, so I suggest wearing long pants...
The marshes have water in them, so they look like the map, which is a good thing for the mapper/course setter. The upper level courses will have to make a choice...
Several of us will be out there the day before, when it is rumored there will be several hundred NJROTC kids running the same courses...
From I-85 North or South near Newnan, take Exit 47 Hwy. 34 (Bullsboro Blvd.). Go west .8 miles. Turn right onto Hwy. 34 Bypass (M Farmer Industrial Blvd.) and go 6 miles. Turn right onto Hwy. 34 (Franklin Road) at 4-way stop and go 8.2 miles. Turn right onto Thomas Powers Road and go 2.7 miles to a 4-way stop. The road name changes to Hewlett South Road. Continue straight .9 miles. Continue straight onto Bud Davis Road and go 1.9 miles. Turn right onto Flat Rock Road. The road name changes to Bobwhite Way. Continue straight to gated entrance of the park.
