Join GAOC for three days of orienteering during MLK weekend. Saturday will feature Classic distance courses on the west side of Sweetwater Creek State Park. Sunday will also feature Classic distance courses at Sweetwater Creek State Park, this time on the east side of the park. Monday will feature Middle distance courses at Dauset Trails.

This is a weekend of our regular orienteering meets with awards for age classes. Each runner gets a score of up to 1000 points for each run: 1000 times winner’s time/runner’s time. So, the winner gets 1000 points and a runner that takes twice as long gets 500 points. The best two out of three scores from the weekend are added to derive a total score. The highest number of points in the age class wins. This is NOT a National Ranking Event.

To maintain the health and safety of all participants and volunteers during the COVID-19 pandemic, GAOC is implementing special rules for event participants. Please review and follow the GAOC Pandemic Rules. Pre-paid preregistration is required. (Registration will open for our volunteer meet directors at 7:00pm on Wednesday, January 6th, and will open for other volunteer coupon holders at 8:00pm on Wednesday, January 6th. Registration will open to everyone at 8:00pm on Thursday, January 7th.) No paper forms or payments will be accepted on-site.

Notes:

  1. In accordance with GAOC Covid Guidelines, pre-paid preregistration is required, and there will be no equipment rental of any kind for the event. Water will NOT be provided on any course. Participants must bring their own compass, e-stick, whistle, and water. A few e-sticks are available for purchase on our merchandise page.
  2. Participants may only participate in ONE course.
  3. No beginner instruction.
  4. Participants will be started promptly at their assigned start time. So that we comply with limits on the number of people at the park at the same time, please arrive at the parking area no earlier than 20 minutes before your start time, and leave the parking area within 15 minutes of finishing your course. To facilitate social distancing, please come to the start no earlier than 3 minutes before your start time, but be sure to be at the start on time.
