Join us Sunday, September 4th, at Red Top Mountain State Park (Iron Hill Trailhead) for a Labor Day weekend run through the Southern end of the park. The start/finish will be located in field to the SW of the main parking lot. There are no shelters or shade in this area and limited seating is available; canopies, water, and sunscreen are highly recommended, particularly for larger groups.

Please be aware that there have been significant changes to the park in/around the campground area. There are new paths, campsites, yurts, parking lots, and buildings that may not be reflected on the map. While you may have to transit through/around the campground area, there are no control points in the campground. Original park sites and roads are all accurately reflected. Please be mindful of where you run and respect the privacy of others using and/or camping in the park.

White through Red courses will be offered. Runners will select their start times (0900 – 1230) when registering. Time limit is 2.5 hours for all courses; all courses close at 3:00pm. Courses are generally on the shorter end, given the heat. White and Yellow courses are designed with "new" runners in mind and will provide a good beginner experience for our newest runners.

Thanks to Lauren Steimle's volunteer efforts, beginner instruction will be available in 25 minute blocks starting at 9:00, 9:30, and 10:00. When registering for your course, select your start time to be after you finish your 25 minutes of beginner instruction.

Notes:

  1. Turnout is expected to be high. The Iron Hill parking area is limited and not exclusive to our event. Please be respectful of the park and others when entering the Iron Hill parking area. Parking requires a State Park pass or a $5 day pass. Overflow parking will be provided in the field to the West of the main gravel lot; please follow direction signs.
  2. Water will NOT be provided on any course. A camelbak water carrying device is highly recommended, particularly given the warm temperatures. Participants must bring their own compasses, whistle, and water. Additionally, please be respectful of meet and scoring officials by maintaining appropriate social distancing. DO NOT congregate around the scoring tent after you have downloaded.
  3. Pre-paid pre-registration is required. (Registration will open for our volunteer meet directors at 7:00pm on Monday, August 29th, and will open for other volunteer coupon holders at 8:00pm on Monday, August 29the. Registration will open to everyone at 9:00pm on Monday, August 29th.) No paper forms or payments will be accepted on-site.
  4. Participants will be started promptly at the start time they select when pre-registering. To facilitate social distancing, please come to the start no earlier than 3 minutes before your start time, but be sure to be at the start on time.
  5. Runners will have the option to run one or two courses using the same e-stick. If you want to run two courses, you must pre-register for both courses. On the pre-registration form, you will select your start time for your first course. At the event, when you are ready to start you second course, come back to the start to be assigned a start time. You must start your second course before 1230.

To maintain the health and safety of all participants and volunteers during the COVID-19 pandemic, GAOC is implementing special rules for event participants. Please review and follow the GAOC Pandemic Rules.
