Our last meet of the Spring season! Just in time, because its gonna be hot.

Schedule:
10:00 mass start Poker-O and regular courses
11:30 hot dog grilling and picnic
12:00 Annual General Membership Meeting

The AGM will start at noon. This is the Annual General Membership meeting, where we discuss club business and vote on things. Everyone who is a member is invited.

The club will provide grilled hot dogs, buns, and condiments at 11:30. Bring picnic type food to share!

Before the food, there will be orienteering. A mass start Poker-O will begin at 10AM. There will also be regular courses - Yellow, Orange, Brown, and Green - for those who just can't get enough.

Poker-O Rules:

• Mass start at 10AM
• 60 minute time limit. No penalty for overtime, except that you cannot win if you go over 60 minutes.
• Cards were shuffled and assigned to the controls. You do not know which control has which card.
• Every control has a playing card. When you punch (epunch) the control, you get that card added to your virtual "hand".
• You are not taking cards or carrying cards - it is all on your epunch.
• Punch as many controls as you want - but remember the time limit.
• Vinton has written a clever program to find the 5 best cards in your virtual hand when you download at the finish.
• Best hand in the least amount of time wins. You need at least 5 controls (cards) in your virtual hand.

Poker-O strategy:

• Remember (or write down) the cards you have punched - when you think you have a good hand (at least 5 cards), go back and finish. Best hand in the least time wins.
• Or get as many controls as possible, working your way back toward the finish line. One second over 60 minutes and you cannot win!

Bring food to share at the picnic! If you are planning to come to the meeting but not orienteer, send Sam an email so he can buy enough hot dogs!

Notes

1. Water will NOT be provided on any course. A camelbak water carrying device is highly recommended, particularly given the warm temperatures. Participants must bring their own compasses, whistle, and water. Additionally, please be respectful of meet and scoring officials by maintaining appropriate social distancing. DO NOT congregate around the scoring tent after you have downloaded.
2. Pre-paid pre-registration is required. (Registration will open for our volunteer meet directors at 7:00pm on Monday, May 15^th, and will open for other volunteer coupon holders at 8:00pm on Monday, May 15^th. Registration will open to everyone at 9:00pm on Monday, May 15^th.) No paper forms or payments will be accepted on-site.
3. Participants will be started promptly at the start time they select when pre-registering. To facilitate social distancing, please come to the start no earlier than 3 minutes before your start time, but be sure to be at the start on time.
4. Runners will have the option to run one or two courses using the same e-stick. If you want to run two courses, you must pre-register for both courses. On the pre-registration form, you will select your start time for your first course. At the event, when you are ready to start you second course, come back to the start to be assigned a start time. You must start your second course before noon.

To maintain the health and safety of all participants and volunteers during the COVID-19 pandemic, GAOC is implementing special rules for event participants. Please review and follow the GAOC Pandemic Rules.

Courses

Volunteers needed

Event volunteers are always needed and appreciated. Each volunteer is awarded a coupon that may be used for discounted (and early) event registration or items from our merchandise page.

If you are interested in helping out at the start, beginner instruction, search and rescue, or control pickup, please select your volunteer position(s) on the registration page or contact the meet director.

Schedule

Runners must select their start time when pre-registering, and will be started promptly at their selected start time. To facilitate social distancing, please come to the start no earlier than 3 minutes before your start time, but be sure to be at the start on time. There is a 3-hour time limit for all courses. All runners must be off all courses by 3:00 pm.

From Atlanta, go west on I-20 to exit 34, then south on GA 5 to Whitesburg. Go 2 miles past Whitesburg, then turn left on W. McIntosh Circle. The address is 1046 W McIntosh Cir, Whitesburg, GA 30185.
