The summer training this year will incorporate Livelox so that you can go out and train on your own time and still compare your routes with others (and yourself). The Livelox events for the summer will stay active until September 1st.
You can read about Livelox at the Livelox home page
All the GAOC events on Livelox are here: GAOC Livelox Events
You can use the Livelox app to track your route, or any device or app that can save a gpx file that you will then upload to Livelox. The Livelox web site has good instructions.
To get access to the courses, you must register and ensure that your Annual Waiver of Liability is current. Registration is free, and the annual waiver is free if you choose the Associate Membership option when completing the Annual Waiver of Liability. After you complete and check out from the registration form, you will receive an email with a link to course map pdf files. When you print the files, be sure to print them at actual size so that the scale will be correct.
These courses are all advanced. There are no control markers, only blue vetting tape. The tape is numbered. Deer are curious animals, and will investigate anything in their territory that looks like salad or tastes like salt, so the tape may disappear!
One interesting way to train is to run the same course more than once: you can try to go faster, compare route choices, evaluate your strengths and weaknesses, and so forth. To do this, it is best to save a gpx file, and upload to Livelox using a slightly different name so that your previous runs are not erased. You can watch yourself run against yourself!
Of course, the woods in Georgia in the summer can be hot, buggy, and green. Check for ticks and stay hydrated!
