EVENTS

GA Navigator Cup - Is a two-day, US Orienteering Federation (USOF) sanctioned A-meet, open to members or non-members ages 10 on up. Competitors compete individually in categories based on gender, age, and course, according to USOF Rules. Awards are presented to the top three finishers in each categories and results are applied to national rankings for USOF members.

Interscholastic Champs - - Is a two-day, USOF sanctioned, orienteering championship that runs in conjunction with the GA Navigator Cup. It is open to USOF members ages 19 and younger who meet the eligibility requirements in the USOF rules. This team competition allows 3-5 member teams to compete as individuals on the same course. The best three times from each team are added each day to determine an aggregate time for the team winners, with individual awards given to the top three male and female finishers in each category.  While the Interscholastic Champs runs in conjunction with the GA Navigator Cup, it is on different courses. For this reason, those entered in the Interscholastic Champs are ineligible for the GA Navigator Cup awards.

1K-O - Is an optional practice event available on Saturday.  The 1km long course is designed to show you how much time you spend on navigation.  Run the course once and figure your total time then run it again and deduct your second time from the first. That's your navigation time.

Trail-OIs an optional event designed to challenge the mind rather than the body. The object of Trail-O is to identify the correct control from a cluster of two or more controls. The orienteer uses all available information, such as clue descriptions, map features, terrain observation and the control arrangement, while viewing the control cluster from a fixed position. Winners are usually determined by the number of correct controls identified rather than fastest time.

String-O - Is an optional event designed to give very young children a taste of orienteering. A short course is connected with a string, which leads children safely around a course as they hunt for controls identified with an animal clue.

Extreme-O - Is an optional event on Monday patterned after a three-day military competition held in a member NATO country each year. Typically, competitors orienteer from several different types of maps, including aerial photographs, quads and topographical maps. Past events have included rope bridge crossings, canoe legs, culvert controls, memory legs and other interesting tests. Due to the nature of the event, advance registration is a must and will be limited.

Recreational Orienteering - Great news! If our registration does not fill up to 600 participants, we will be able to offer recreational orienteering. Register the day of the meet at Meet HQ. Cost $8/participant.
